The Big Open Wrangle workshop organised by Big Community went off better than expected according to Andrew Martin, Zerto VP of APJ and AOPG board member. Giving acknowledgement to the participants for being there on-time, he expressed his surprise too at seeing a packed room of VIP’s from both public and private sectors which included the government sectors, Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) and from the private sector, prominent ride sharing company, O-Bike.

There too were the sponsors for the event and supporters of the Open Data initiative, NetApp, Cloudera and Tech Data.

The discussions between the private and public sectors was nothing short of captivating as they went back and forth looking at issues such as how should the government share the data on the open data platform in terms of structured and unstructured data, and what is important in the data shared such as its quality or its quantity.

The consensus from all parties was that although the quality of data was important, it should not be cleaned and processed before being put up on the open data website. This was so all parties who look at the data will see data that is untainted and possibly find different solutions than what was already shown.
