TIBCO Software Inc., a global leader in integration, API management, and analytics, today announced it has enhanced its collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic (SP) to expand data analytics and Internet of Things (IoT) knowledge in the region, supporting Singapore’s mission to nurture local entrepreneurs. As part of the collaboration, SP and TIBCO will expand the network of universities in Singapore, TIBCO’s regional hub, offering initiatives that both drive innovation and position these institutions to add economic value.
SPINOFF, Singapore Polytechnic’s entrepreneurship centre, will partner with TIBCO to provide technical materials on data analytics and Project Flogo™, TIBCO’s ultra-light, Golang-based open source ecosystem for building event-driven apps. The centre’s objective is to develop course materials that can be adopted by other universities. Students who sign up for the programme will work in multi-disciplinary teams to tackle problem statements, then implement TIBCO’s innovative solutions to help review the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. The integrated programme will help students develop the business skills and commitment necessary to successfully operate an entrepreneurial venture.
“At TIBCO, we have a comprehensive approach in the field of data analytics, helping universities work together through an exciting hands-on learning experience, coupled with our innovative technology,” said Melissa Ries, general manager, Asia Pacific and Japan, TIBCO. “We aim to ensure that students from different backgrounds obtain skills relevant to the digital economy, and believe that this academic initiative could be a ground-breaking programme in terms of the economic impact it can achieve.”
New technologies are changing business models and affecting the Singapore economy, disrupting numerous businesses, as well as creating new possibilities. Thus, an entrepreneurial mind-set is needed to turn ideas into action, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
“As a leading educational institution, Singapore Polytechnic’s SPINOFF centre aims to nurture students by equipping them with the latest knowledge and skillsets in emerging technologies to start their own businesses,” said Neelesh Bhatia, centre director, SPINOFF. “This will help them excel as entrepreneurs in a rapidly changing economy and contribute to the local workforce.”
Through this collaboration, Singapore Polytechnic aims to have 1000 students train at the entrepreneur education centre by 2020. This is the third phase of TIBCO’s collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic. In January 2018, TIBCO announced an arrangement to provide data analytics capabilities and knowledge for adult learners through industrial practice, internships, and other practice-based training.
