Nokia showcased its commitment towards Malaysia’s digital transformation and economic progression during the “Amplify Malaysia” event with the unveiling of a revamped technology strategy aimed at spearheading the nation’s technological evolution.

The event provided an opportunity for Nokia to emphasise its dedication to technological advancement and its significant contribution as a B2B technology innovator in the field. Through its involvement in pioneering innovation on a national scale, Nokia intends to support Malaysian enterprises and Communication Service Providers (CSPs) in harnessing their digital capabilities. This enables them to effectively engage with the opportunities presented by the ongoing digitalisation trend.

The focal point of the event was a series of dynamic demonstrations and the introduction of several products that were curated from Nokia’s participation at the Mobile World Congress 2023 earlier this year in Barcelona. Through these demonstrations and product introductions, Nokia is aiming to make an impact on various industries in Malaysia, fostering socio-economic growth in the process. The company aspires to provide substantial assistance to Malaysian CSPs and enterprises as they embark on their journey of adopting transformative 5G and digital technologies.

Adding grandeur to the occasion, YB Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital, Malaysia, who commemorated the event, emphasised that technology lies at the nucleus of the Malaysian government’s progress, and pioneering companies like Nokia steer innovation to create digital services and applications that enrich the country’s local businesses.

Quoting her, “This partnership is poised to galvanise Malaysia’s businesses, aligning perfectly with the government’s vision to invigorate the technology landscape and foster an inclusive digital economy.”

At Amplify Malaysia, Nokia unveiled a series of innovations that they believe will play a significant role in advancing Malaysia’s digital evolution:

  • MX Industrial Edge: Nokia referred to the MX Industrial Edge as a potential future-proof on-premises edge solution, primed to expedite the digital transformation of Operational Technology (OT). A fusion of edge-as-a-service flexibility and robust edge architecture, the MX Industrial Edge caters to the mission-critical demands of asset-intensive industrial environments. This innovation unlocks pivotal business use cases, such as real-time video feed monitoring and advanced video analytics solutions for applications like quality assurance and safety.
  • NetGuard Cybersecurity Dome: The NetGuard Cybersecurity Dome is Nokia’s award-winning security orchestration solution replete with pre-designed 5G use cases for network security assurance. Empowering security orchestration teams with a comprehensive catalogue of 5G use cases spanning RAN to Transport and Core, this solution leverages Extended Detection and Response (XDR) capabilities to correlate security data with telecommunications context, thereby enhancing decision-making and risk control.
  • Nokia Optical Product Solutions Portfolio: Nokia also demonstrated its optical network solutions’ ability to scale limitlessly while serving as the bedrock for networked communications. These solutions span from the network edge to long-haul/core and subsea links, simplifying operations and paving the way for smarter, automated networks that optimise service delivery and reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Notably, network automation solutions can help bolster the growth of CSPs, webscale enterprises, and businesses by expediting revenue generation and service deployment.
  • Nokia’s Chipset Development: Nokia’s self-propelled chipset development, epitomised by the ReefShark chipsets, constituted a notable stride in bolstering the 5G network portfolio. These chipsets bolster massive MIMO antennas and AirScale System Modules, enhancing network intelligence and performance. Engineered in-house, these innovations amalgamate silicon design prowess with antenna expertise and AI innovation from Nokia Bell Labs to realise potent and efficient network solutions. Continued advancements in chipset technology, including the PSE-6s-enabled platforms, the Quillion chipset, and the FP5 network processing silicon, amplify network capacity, power efficiency, and security features.
  • Supercharging the Network Through NPO: Nokia’s Network Planning and Optimisation (NPO) digitalised portfolio, which underscores network performance as its cornerstone, is geared at facilitating the accommodation of new technologies and the advent of O-RAN and vRAN. The integration of environmental sustainability is incorporated within the design of Mobile Networks and the provision of NPO services, reflecting Nokia’s aspiration for increased efficiency in the future.

Datuk Mohd Rauf Nasir, Managing Director of Malaysia, Sri Lanka & Maldives at Nokia expressed Nokia’s dedication towards spearheading Malaysia’s digital transformation journey, stating that Nokia’s mission centres on empowering their partners and customers with mission-critical solutions that forge a transformative presence for Malaysia’s future.

“We are committed to partnering in Malaysia’s digital transformation journey by equipping businesses with capabilities to bolster their digital-first ambitions. As part of this, we aim to work closely with the business ecosystem for leveraging the exponential potential of networks for them to drive technological advancements and introduce sustainability in Malaysia’s digital landscape,” he said.

Nokia’s ‘Amplify Malaysia’ event can be said to be more than a showcase of technology; as it encapsulated a collaborative commitment to propel Malaysia’s digital destiny, fostering innovation and prosperity for years to come.
