Maxis is collaborating with Blueshark, a leading smart scooter provider, and EV Connection Sdn. Bhd. (EVC), operator of the JomCharge charging network, to accelerate the adoption of e-mobility solutions.
To kick off the collaboration, a document exchange ceremony was held in conjunction with the E-Mobility Asia (EMA) 2023 exhibition, with Maxis inking Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Blueshark and EVC, respectively. Maxis is the official smart mobility solution provider for the inaugural EMA, which is being held in Kuala Lumpur from 22 to 24 November.
The ceremony was witnessed by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry, Malaysia.
As part of the MoUs, Maxis will provide 4G and 5G network connectivity solutions to Blueshark and EVC to support the e-mobility needs of their electric vehicle (EV) assets and infrastructure.
Maxis will also explore innovative digital solutions with both parties to accelerate the application of new technologies within the EV ecosystem. As a start, Maxis will develop an ESG dashboard to help Blueshark customers measure and analyse their carbon footprint through their electric scooters.
The dashboard will leverage Maxis’ end-to-end capabilities spanning cloud, data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Maxis’ 4G and 5G networks will provide essential connectivity for Blueshark’s fleet, ensuring secure and reliable data collection for the dashboard with full Application Programming Interface (API) integration.
Providing Modern Network Connectivity
Maxis will also provide network connectivity to Blueshark’s battery swap stations, across Malaysia, to help them analyse and manage their battery inventory.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Blueshark and EVC, well-known names within the EV sector. As a leading integrated telco, we have the right capabilities to meet the needs of smart mobility businesses end-to-end. We look forward to powering EV technologies and innovation through our enterprise solutions, including IoT, cloud, managed services, 4G and 5G connectivity,” said Prateek Pashine, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at Maxis.
“Being one of the major players in EV industry, we identified three key challenges: connection reliability, ease of management, and cost competitiveness. Maxis addresses these pain points with their IoT connectivity, providing us reliable coverage and connectivity along with an IoT analytics platform, supporting our JomCharge charging network at best value,” said Ir Lee Yuen How, Managing Director at EVC.
“We are thrilled to have Maxis Business as a partner in our journey to define the future of mobility”, said Jin Chan, Group COO (ASEAN) at Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd. “Blueshark’s edge is in our app-to-bike connectivity and with constant two-way data flows, our customers can monitor and track their vehicle stats in real time, seamlessly and instantly. This means that our app needs to be always connected and lag-free to provide riders with an always-on experience. Thanks to Maxis, we are now able to power up our robust connected ecosystem and IoV (Internet of Vehicles) solutions to their full potential for the benefit of our riders.”
