Heavy Downpour Failed To Dampen High Spirits At Big Data Week Jakarta Flagship Event Big Indonesia

Heavy rain and traffic jams did not stop enthusiastic participants from attending the much talked about and anticipated Big Data Week Jakarta flagship event, Big Indonesia, which was held yesterday at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Jakarta. The event was organised by the in-house Big Community Events Team which gave this writer unlimited access throughout the event which included exclusives with speakers and vendors as well as event information. It was confirmed by the Events Team that Big Indonesia was attended by over 1,200 participants with a whopping 60% of the delegates being students.

The event which was officiated by Deputy Minister, Communications and Information Technology, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, had a vibrant and colourful launch gambit as drummers took to the stage in body suit lights that had the crowd mesmerized, while emcee personality Tommy Prabowo had the crowd in stitches throughout the event with his quick wit and charm.

Big Data Week is a worldwide concept of community events focusing on the social, political and technological impact of data on a region. The events bring together a global community of data professionals, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and new ideas about data and the latest technologies that could bring about disruptions across industries horizontally and vertically.

The event which brought in experts from around the world, symbolizes an ongoing movement from the government as well as the private sectors towards focusing on driving Big Data adoption across Indonesia’s key economic growth industries.

Attendees were spoilt for choice from a wealth of presentations, access to a list of experts and numerous real world case studies shared by the speakers who proved the potential and huge gains of being a Data Driven nation.

Big Community managed to speak to a few participants who were quite happy to be a part of the exciting and informative event.

One such delegate, Mega, who is CEO of her own enterprise dealing with solar energy, said she had come to learn more about how Big Data could help her with her newly founded business as well as to network with people from numerous industries. “I find this event very helpful and educational for me. As a start-up this is the type of event that would be really useful in exposing and giving us the right direction”.

Prizes were given out to participants with the catchiest tweet as well as a lucky draw at the end of the event which included a drone, a smart phone and many others.
