Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, a leading provider of communications, networking and cloud solutions tailored to customers’ industries, was selected by the University of Lampung (UNILA), a public university in Indonesia, to modernise their network solution.
The important infrastructure project was successfully completed on time and on budget, enabling UNILA’s students, staff, and visitors to benefit from Wi-Fi 6, a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi infrastructure that is up to 40% faster than UNILA’s legacy solution. The upgraded network provides secure protocol for safe internet and permits a larger number of students to be connected.
Today’s universities are expected to be hubs for innovation and knowledge powered by the latest technology. Their main goal is to simplify and encourage the learning process and support students, staff and other stakeholders. University networks must prevent cyberattacks, which have drastically increased in the education sector due to the proliferation of various connected devices and the quick rise of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Goal Accomplished: Enhancing Digital Quality of Service
UNILA’s objective was to solidify their standing as an education provider by improving their digital Quality of Service (QoS) and user experience for all their stakeholders. Furthermore, the university aimed to ensure the security of its network infrastructure from potential risks, without compromising on accessibility for its community and guests.
“We are proud to be part of UNILA’s continuous journey to academic excellence through digital empowerment. The seamless integration of the university’s vision and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s tailored solutions has enhanced user experience and connectivity throughout the campus,” shares Damien Delard, Vice President, APAC Channels and ASEAN Head of Sales at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. “This collaboration stands as a testament to our shared commitment to driving innovation and facilitating seamless access to knowledge and connectivity for UNILA’s students and faculty.”
UNILA worked with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise to create an always-on, scalable, intelligent, easy to manage, resilient and high-performance infrastructure with integrated automation. The network is managed centrally with a single dashboard for wired, wireless and IoT devices. The Zero Trust approach used ensures complete security of the network at all times by applying role-based access control for all users. Lastly, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise was able to lower CAPEX with a distributed intelligence solution that reduced hardware purchases.
“Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise worked with us to realise our vision of building a network that would improve our profile on the world stage, deliver the Quality of Experience and Quality of Service that users demand, and address the influx of BYOD with built-in security,” said Muhamad Komarudin, Head of Information Technology and Communication at the University of Lampung.
