Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, a leading provider of communications, networking and cloud solutions tailored to customers’ industries has provided PT Fiber Media Indonesia (FMI), a telecommunications services provider for government and private sector in the Greater Jakarta area, with a new networking solution that resolves technology challenges and improves the user experience. Based on the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch® 6900C32E and Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch® 6900X24, the new infrastructure delivers a higher connection speed, higher access bandwidth for subscribers and increased backbone connectivity as well.
The ALE solution introduces Shortest Path Bridging (SPB) into the FMI network, which delivers traffic on the shortest path available and enables multiple active paths for more rapid convergence after a network problem. SPB is primarily focused on addressing the shortcomings of the aging Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) used by FMI and on improving their network’s performance and reliability. SPB also ensures security by separating different types of traffic into “containers” to prevent unauthorized access.
“We were pleased to be able to collaborate with our partner PT Quinsis Lintas Mitra to showcase in a trial for FMI how our OmniSwitch solution with SPB could help them resolve the issues their network was facing and improve performance for their customers. SPB is significantly simpler to deploy and maintain than more traditional methods of moving network traffic and is a key differentiating feature of our solution.”
- Novse Hardiman, Country Manager for Indonesia, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise
“Shortest Path Bridging is a foundational technology at ALE that has proven its reliability to support diverse customers and industries around the world, as it has with FMI in Indonesia. This technology is versatile, simple and reliable and helps to address the shortcomings of Spanning Tree Protocol. It continues to be a key differentiator for us, and we are glad to make it a key part of FMI’s business expansion project.”
- Damien Delard, APAC Vice President Channel & SEA/NEA Head of Sales, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise
“As our business grows, our aim is always to provide an efficient, reliable network that exceeds the expectations of our subscribers. ALE has demonstrated a strong commitment to our success by providing excellent assistance from both technology and business perspectives to help make our business expansion project a success. We are delighted with the real-time performance and recovery time of our new infrastructure in Greater Jakarta and cities in the Java area.”
- Budi Aditya, CEO, PT Fiber Media Indonesia
With their new ALE network, FMI is well-equipped to provide their growing customer base in Indonesia with a network that is ready to meet their increasing expectations.
