Over the past decade, AMD Singapore successfully transitioned from a high-volume test manufacturing facility to a Product Development Center with leadership and technical expertise to execute and sustain a strong ecosystem of New Product Introduction (NPI). Since 2016, AMD Singapore has significantly expanded its local R&D operations amidst a growing customer and partner base. Today, around 85% of AMD Singapore’s workforce drive innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualisation technologies within Product Development and NPI ecosystem teams.

AMD Singapore is looking to expand its workforce steadily over the coming months to accelerate next-generation product development. The expanded team will focus on HPC activities, including product and hardware development, device analysis, data science and Artificial Intelligence research. These new products and hardware are part of AMD’s product portfolio that will address new markets, and strategies to accelerate data centre growth and deliver pervasive AI leadership.

AMD will be investing more than USD $50 million to expand and upskill the workforce and upgrade capabilities over the next 3 years. In partnership with EDB, AMD is committed to developing local talent with critical semiconductor R&D skills through mentorship, overseas training stints, and post-graduate research studies and projects with leading Universities in Singapore.

“Rooted in an innovation-driven culture, AMD Singapore’s phenomenal growth is a testament to the local site’s consistent value-add to AMD’s mission of building great products that accelerate next-generation high performance computing experiences,” said El Saravanan, Managing Director at AMD Singapore. “We are thrilled to be expanding our workforce in Singapore and are deeply committed to developing the remarkable engineering talent locally.”

As AMD continues to make extraordinary strides in High Performance Computing, the growth of AMD Singapore’s workforce and product development capabilities will enable the company to deliver industry-leading solutions for a growing customer and partner base across all major business units.
