Yesterday marked the second day of Dassault’s 3DEXPERIENCE World in Dallas, where the rich diversity among attendees vividly reflected Dassault’s global impact on its customers. When I speak of ‘diversity,’ it encompasses more than just racial or national differences; it extends to the diverse industry backgrounds represented by all attendees. Whether they were company representatives or journalists, individuals hailed from a spectrum of fields including manufacturing, architecture, computing, mechanics, vehicles & aviation, and beyond. This collective diversity underscores Dassault’s extensive array of solutions and applications tailored for innovative designs across various industries and geographic locations.
Across diverse industries represented at 3DEXPERIENCE World, attendees share a common focus: The transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Dassault Systemes’ brands and tools. This topic proved to be so influential, in fact, that Dassault’s executive/keynote speakers, including Suchit Jain (VP of Strategy and Business Development at Dassault), sat in just as many press conferences, if not more, than they did on the first day, to provide their insight on AI’s place on 3DEXPERIENCE and SolidWorks.
In a press discussion, Suchit was questioned about common misconceptions surrounding AI. His response was that AI is seen or feared by many as a replacement for workers, and that it can accomplish complex tasks at a faster rate than workers, but that the truth is that AI is a tool—a smart tool, but a tool nonetheless—for which workers are still needed to operate and use. Dassault intends to implement AI with this purpose in mind: Not to take over a designer’s job, but to streamline workflows and shorten project timeframes.
This rings especially true for generative AI. To become a valuable assistant, generative AI requires training and some degree of user programming to grasp specific coding or language nuances before it can seamlessly provide answers and solutions. Lenovo’s AI expert, Mike Leach, was on hand as an exhibitor at the event to delve deeper into this matter. Lenovo is rolling out PCs catered to run with AI solutions and tools installed, one of which is called ThinkStation. Generative AI is a smaller part of AI that Lenovo deems most useful when customised and specialised for specific purposes. Lenovo’s ThinkStation generative AI solutions are specialised in this way.
As the day progressed, Dassault’s 3DEXPERIENCE World highlighted that while AI remains misunderstood by some across various sectors, its potential for enhancing future workflows and structural design is considerable, positioning it as another invaluable tool in our arsenal.
