Analog Devices Inc. (ADI), a global leader in the design and manufacturing of analogue, mixed-signal, and DSP integrated circuits, is staying true to its vision of bridging the physical and digital worlds with the launch of CodeFusion Studio, ADI Developer Program, and ADI Assure.

CodeFusion Studio is a comprehensive software development environment tailored for ADI analogue and digital technologies. It comes with a software development kit that includes drivers and libraries, configuration and productivity tools, and an integrated development environment with ARM and RISC-V support.

The ADI Developer Program is designed to inspire the ADI community of developers to push the boundaries of technology and bring innovative ideas to life. The program seeks to cultivate a thriving ecosystem of developers by providing access to resources and support, ways for them to connect and share knowledge, and an inclusive environment to provide feedback. ADI Assure, meanwhile, is the company’s security solution engineered to keep pace with increasing system complexity and evolving threats.

CodeFusion Studio and More: Analog Devices Announces New Innovations to Empower Intelligent Edge

CodeFusion Studio

ADI’s CodeFusion Studio is one-of-a-kind, as it offers open-source tooling that provides developers with full ownership of their software development pipeline enhanced by best-in-class on-chip debugging architecture and a trusted pipeline for real-time edge data. The studio also offers production-quality application reference designs that let customers focus on their differentiation and accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and security at the Intelligent Edge.

“No other vendor open-sources all of their technology like this,” said Rob Oshana, Senior Vice President at ADI, in a virtual media brief announcing the launch of the company’s new innovations. “We have the utilities that we do provide, like config tools for clock config and pin config. When the user selects those configuration choices, rather than generating default vendor code specific to that vendor, we instead provide the option for our users to generate code in various different build tools.”

This open-sourcing, Oshana pointed out, allows ADI customers to integrate CodeFusion Studio into their development flows to make them more productive and efficient—all while allowing them to contribute to communities with ADI to let this technology evolve even faster.

ADI Developer Program

ADI, according to Eric Thiel, Head of Academic and Developer Relations at ADI, is always listening to its customers to find out exactly what they are trying to do with the company’s technology. The ADI Developer Program is a response to this commitment.

The ADI Developer Program focuses on three key areas, said Thiel. These are:

  1. Engagement. Developer advocacy allows ADI to work directly with developers to gather feedback and partner with product teams to ensure a great developer experience.
  2. Community. Bringing together ADI experts with external developers in meaningful ways fosters a collaborative and supportive environment that ultimately drives the success of the platform and program.
  3. Ecosystem. Contributions to the open-source community cultivate collaboration, innovation, and growth by attracting talent, building credibility, and expanding reach that connects us to future partnerships.

“Areas we focus on include things like engagement, where we’re actually out there talking with developers, understanding what their needs are, where they need extra support or extra resources, and bringing that to bear, whether it’s producing more materials or giving the feedback to our business units to let them know different or other ways that developers might want to interact with our technology,” Thiel pointed out to reporters in the same media brief. “So, across social media and our forums, we’re bringing people together and helping them build a community, not just talking to us, but we want them talking to each other and sharing these great ideas and innovative ways of solving problems.”

All this community engagement, of course, will go for nought without the right ecosystem, something ADI has been providing for its developers over the years. “We want to actually be able to give back to the community all of our knowledge on edge intelligence on how to do things better, efficiently, quicker out at the edge,” Thiel said.

ADI Assure

The best innovations, however, can be stifled by security threats, which are only growing more dangerous and more sophisticated. Complicating matters are increasingly interconnected systems that expand the surface area for security vulnerabilities. This increased threat is why security matters now more than ever to developers and innovators. And this is why ADI Assure is a timely innovation to the company’s stack of solutions.

“It’s essentially a trusted edge security architecture that has common APIs for hardware and software that makes building a secure system a lot easier for our customers and a lot more consistent,” said Stephane Di Vito, Senior Director of Security Technology at ADI, about ADI Assure. “And this is evolving. We’re also going up the stack and security as well by adding additional features into our security strategy to do advanced higher-up-the-stack functions like data providence and other advanced features that can further differentiate our signal chain and the data and the sensors that are involved in our signal chain.”

ADI Assure combines hardware and software to offer the security foundation required for intelligent edge applications in digital and mixed-signal products. It provides trusted edge solutions for native edge security, along with scalable security that is easy to adopt. It also secures the supply chain to enable a secure-by-design mindset across the entire development lifecycle. All these benefits perfectly align with ADI’s security roadmap that includes:

  • Trusted Edge Security Architecture to secure the intelligent edge.
  • Cyber Resilience Readiness to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Increased Data Protection to unlock data-driven business models and increase trust in business verticals.

“So, we secure data coming into our supply chain, throughout the supply chain, and egressing out of our supply chain so our customers know that they’re getting technology that is not only trusted, but it’s also secure and built into our supply chain for everything that we do,” Di Vito pointed out. “So, these are a few components of our security strategy that will also be integrated into CodeFusion Studio.”

Next-Generation Software Environment with ADI

Put simply, ADI’s recent announcements—CodeFusion Studio, ADI Developer Program, and ADI Assure—aim to provide developers with a next-generation software development environment for analogue and digital. With this robust, secure, and integrated development environment full of all kinds of productivity tools and open-sourced at every stage, ADI customers better empower the intelligent edge, drive software development forward, and foster innovation—all while building a dynamic community of developers.

CodeFusion Studio, ADI Developer Program, and ADI Assure are now all available for ADI customers.
