LakehouseIQ is a knowledge engine that learns what makes an organisation’s data, culture and operations unique. LakehouseIQ uses generative AI to understand the jargon, data usage patterns, organisational structure, and more to answer questions within a business context. Anyone in an organisation can interact with LakehouseIQ using natural language to search, understand, and query data. LakehouseIQ is fully integrated with Databricks Unity Catalog to help ensure that democratising access to data adheres to internal security and governance rules.
Delta Lake 3.0 is Databricks’ newest contribution to the award-winning Linux Foundation‘s open-source initiative, Delta Lake. through the release of Delta Lake 3.0. The upcoming release introduces Universal Format (UniForm), which allows data stored in Delta to be read from as if it were Apache Iceberg or Apache Hudi. UniForm takes the guesswork out of choosing an open data format and eliminates compatibility headaches by offering automatic support for Iceberg and Hudi within Delta Lake. Delta Lake 3.0 will allow users to eliminate the complicated integration work caused by different data formats and focus on building highly performant, open lakehouses.
Databricks Introduces New Generative AI Tools, Investing in Lakehouse AI
Databricks also introduced Lakehouse AI innovations that allow customers to easily and efficiently develop generative AI applications, including large language models (LLMs), directly within the Databricks Lakehouse Platform. Lakehouse AI offers a unique, data-centric approach to AI, with built-in capabilities for the entire AI lifecycle and underlying monitoring and governance. New features that will help customers more easily implement generative AI use cases include: Vector Search, a curated collection of open source models, LLM-optimized Model Serving, MLflow 2.5 with LLM capabilities such as AI Gateway and Prompt Tools, and Lakehouse Monitoring.
Lakehouse Federation capabilities in Unity Catalog will enable organisations to establish a highly scalable, efficient data mesh architecture with consolidated governance. These capabilities unify previously siloed data systems under the Databricks Lakehouse Platform. It will also allow customers to discover, query, and govern data across all their data platforms from within Databricks without moving or copying the data first. With this release, data silos effectively disappear within an organisation, and customers can extend the analytics capabilities of their unified lakehouse.
