Dell Technologies is playing a critical role in powering PSA Singapore (PSA) to build Tuas Port, the world’s largest fully automated, intelligent, and sustainable port, by the 2040s. PSA is taking a multicloud approach using Dell solutions to revolutionise port operations and create an intelligent logistics ecosystem that helps PSA enhance operational efficiency and boost capabilities for handling massive cargo volumes.

PSA, a leading port operator and supply chain solutions provider in Singapore, seeks to elevate the nation’s global standing and transform its logistics landscape. This transformation journey with Dell Technologies is expected to increase the port’s handling capacity to 65 million units, almost doubling the volume of 37 million units handled in 2022.

Central to this initiative is the need for a modernised and sustainable supply chain that can cater to high-performance processing needs, for tasks such as big data analytics. Dell Technologies supported PSA with the integration of a multicloud foundation which plays a crucial role in expediting cargo’s time-to-market and helps PSA seamlessly navigate the complexities of modern logistics. It also advances PSA’s ambition to establish an ecosystem of communities connected with interoperability through a global “Internet of Logistics” (IoL) initiative. Companies within the ecosystem will then be able to share applications and data services seamlessly.

Innovation and Efficiency Unleashed with Dell

Multicloud helps organisations unlock best-in-class capabilities to better manage their data on both public and private clouds with agility. The technological backbone of PSA’s initiative is an array of solutions from Dell Technologies, including Dell VxRail, complemented by Dell Unity XT storage and Dell PowerScale storage systems. Dell Technologies is also collaborating with partners such as VMware to design a software-defined data centre (SDDC) with multicloud capabilities for PSA.

The integrated solution increases the flexibility and scalability of PSA’s IT infrastructure. With more configurations and all-flash nodes, it not only doubles the storage capacity, but also leverages data to support a wide range of applications including AI driven ones.  Some of these workloads include hands-free container loading and unloading, the analysis of port traffic trends, as well as the ability to predict vessel movements and detect congestion hotspots in Singapore’s waters.

Granting Access to SaaS and PaaS

Under this partnership, PSA is equipped with centralised, on-demand access to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) options applicable with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Dell Unity XT, and Dell PowerScale storage solutions.
