Digital twins are becoming increasingly popular among enterprises of all sizes due to their ability to improve collaboration, prediction, optimisation and ESG practices. As a result, more and more customers are building large-scale digital twin platforms that accurately reflect real-world physical assets.

Creating digital twins of manufacturing plants or complex infrastructure does not mean just physical properties and mechanics. When combined with Cloud, IoT sensors and devices and advanced algorithms such as 3D modeling, mapping and simulation, digital twin platforms have become essential tools in numerous significant use cases. These include smart city and mobility infrastructure and safety management systems, as well as the optimisation of manufacturing and renewable energy facilities.

By leveraging digital twins, organisations can achieve their ESG and sustainability goals while simultaneously enhancing their efficiency and productivity. A digital twin empowers business leaders to accurately simulate and optimize the performance of physical assets. By collecting and analysing data from physical assets, digital twins can identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, leading to reduced energy consumption, and carbon emissions.

One example is our collaboration with NVIDIA to deliver top industry 3D simulation and design capabilities by providing the infrastructure required to power NVIDIA OVX™, a computing system designed to run large-scale Omniverse™ digital twins. The collaboration leverages Lenovo infrastructure and workstations to deliver real-time virtual remote work capabilities enabled by NVIDIA Omniverse Enterprise and runs on the latest NVIDIA GPUs. Lenovo’s industry-leading devices and servers coupled with NVIDIA OVX will be used to create complex digital twins that will model entire buildings, factories and cities.

As one of the only infrastructure solutions providers to deliver the complete portfolio of solutions for Omniverse Enterprise to enable enterprise teams to achieve seamless 3D design collaboration or design and operate real-time physically accurate digital twins, we believe that digital twins is poised to grow further by utilising its core technologies of 3D simulation, Artificial Intelligence and big data analytics.

Since both the private and public sectors continue to advance elemental technology, including local government-led projects, the use of digital twins is expected to expand into a variety of industries as well. These include energy, retail, logistics, smart city, manufacturing, materials, chemical, and medical sectors.
