The annual Dell Technologies World 2024 kicked off in Las Vegas, buzzing with announcements about Artificial Intelligence (AI). While many exciting developments emerged (you can read all about them in our earlier article), the crowd erupted when Dell Technologies revealed a significant expansion of the Dell AI Factory through a strategic partnership with NVIDIA.

This expanded offering integrates advanced server, edge, and workstation solutions alongside comprehensive services, with the aim of significantly accelerating AI adoption by providing businesses with a one-stop shop for their AI infrastructure needs.

“Organisations are moving quickly to capture the AI opportunity, which is why our collaboration with NVIDIA is so important,” said Michael Dell, Founder and CEO of Dell Technologies. “Our expansion of the Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA continues our joint mission – we’re making it easy for organisations to implement AI so they can move boldly into this next technological revolution,” Michael continued, as he highlighted the importance of this partnership in capturing AI opportunities swiftly.

But why do these two companies work together on the Dell AI Factory?

According to the Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, “Generative AI requires a new type of computing infrastructure – an AI factory that produces intelligence.”

“Together, NVIDIA and Dell are providing the world’s industries with a full-stack offering – including computing, networking and software – that drives the copilots, coding assistants, virtual customer service agents and industrial digital twins of the digital enterprise,” the Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, Jensen Huang said.

Well, what does this collaboration bring?

  • Transformative Capabilities
The Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA integrates Dell Technologies’ leading AI solutions with the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, supported by NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs, Spectrum-X Ethernet networking fabric, and Bluefield DPUs. This integration provides customers with tailored capabilities or pre-validated solutions for AI use cases requiring accelerated performance, such as model training and inferencing.
  • Advanced Compute Power
The new Dell PowerEdge XE9680L server supports eight NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs in a compact 4U form factor, offering 33% more GPU density per node. This platform includes Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) for enhanced efficiency and is available fully configured for rack-scale deployments. Additionally, Dell Technologies introduces highly energy-efficient rack-scale solutions, with variants supporting up to 72 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs in a single rack.
  • Edge AI Application Deployment
Dell NativeEdge, the first edge orchestration platform to automate the delivery of NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, enables businesses to deploy AI applications and solutions at the edge quickly. This includes deployment blueprints for NVIDIA Metropolis video analytics, NVIDIA Riva speech and translation capabilities, and NVIDIA NIM inference microservices, facilitating rapid edge data analysis for industries like manufacturing and retail.
  • Simplifying AI Development and Deployment
To expedite AI application development, Dell Technologies introduces the Generative AI Solution for Digital Assistants, providing a full-stack Dell and NVIDIA solution for deploying personalised digital assistants. Implementation Services for Digital Assistants aid organisations in designing, planning, and scaling these solutions. The Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA also includes full-stack deployment automation, reducing time to value by up to 86% compared to self-deployment. NVIDIA NIM inference microservices further minimise the time from delivery to running inferencing jobs, offering production-ready, optimised inference engines for popular AI models.
  • Accelerator Services
New Dell Accelerator Services for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) on Precision AI Workstations help shorten AI development cycles and enhance AI application performance. Utilising the NVIDIA AI Workbench, these services provide a secure environment for experimenting, testing, and prototyping AI and machine learning projects.

Empowering Businesses for the Age of AI

Dell Technologies, through the Dell AI Factory and its expanded partnership with NVIDIA, is leading the charge towards democratising AI for businesses. Their comprehensive suite of AI-optimised infrastructure, devices, and services removes the barriers to entry, empowering organisations of all sizes to accelerate AI adoption. This integrated approach unlocks the transformative power of AI, allowing businesses to revolutionise their operations, achieve unprecedented results, and confidently step into the future powered by artificial intelligence.

From what I understand, Dell Technologies doesn’t want to just offer the tools; it wants to equip businesses of all sizes with the knowledge and support needed to thrive in this new AI-driven landscape.

The Dell Technologies and NVIDIA partnership is just the beginning. Dell Technologies World 2024 has a lot more in store, from cutting-edge hardware advancements to innovative software solutions. Keep following for all the updates!
