Despite the pandemic and economic downturn, Singapore has witnessed a burgeoning growth in the number of MSMEs, as many ventures out to turn their interests and hobbies into legitimate sources of income.
As Singapore learns to live with the pandemic, businesses are pivoting away from brick and mortar shops, with online shopping and eCommerce becoming more prominent than ever before. This has resulted in a huge demand for cost-efficient courier services for businesses to meet their fulfillments.
Empowering businesses of all sizes, EasyParcel helps businesses manage their fulfillments and simplify aspects of last-mile delivery solutions to bolster overall growth. Similar to booking an Airbnb, EasyParcel provides transparency and cost-efficient solutions by allowing users to compare delivery rates across the region to get the best competitive booking prices.
Founded in 2014 by Clarence Leong, a serial technopreneur, EasyParcel was his second venture in his entrepreneurial journey. Giving up his eight-year career in the United Kingdom as an Aerospace Engineer, Clarence stepped out of his comfort zone in 2010 to start his first venture EziVoucher, a platform that mirrors Groupon, offering and selling vouchers/coupons.
Named as one of the fastest-growing startups in Malaysia by Frost & Sullivan, EasyParcel started out with the main goal of helping SME/startups and individuals, which eventually led to their expansion and growth into the bigger markets. As a strong advocate for digitalisation, EasyParcel was built to help traditional courier companies gather more business opportunities through the digital space while offering businesses the lowest delivery rates and tools to further empower their businesses.
Designed with convenience in mind, EasyParcel allows users to gather quotes instantly by simply inputting postal codes and the weight of their packages. Partnering with over 60 courier companies across Southeast Asia, like UPS, DHL, SingPost and FedEx, EasyParcel’s extensive courier database allows users to compare couriers and pick the best fit for their businesses.
To date, EasyParcel has partnered with the majority of courier companies in Singapore, with over 15 courier partners. “One of our key focuses is to help gather more sales opportunities for our courier partners by bridging the gap with eCommerce merchants and managing them. We hope to secure more partnerships in 2022 for a more extensive logistics network,” said Clarence Leong, CEO at EasyParcel.
First to Launch Paperless Delivery System
Using EasyParcel’s proprietary paperless delivery system to reduce unnecessary costs for expensive printer ink and Air Waybills, users without printers at home need not leave their houses for their Air Waybills to be printed; moreover it is much more eco-friendly in the long run.
Users are only required to mark their packages with the necessary details, thus helping to save time, cost and manpower and allowing them to focus on their daily operations.
To accelerate and simplify daily delivery routines, EasyParcel also provides SMS and email tracking, same-day domestic delivery, as well as an API key for savvier businesses. The API key allows business owners to integrate their online stores with EasyParcel’s platform for a more seamless and user-friendly experience in booking single or bulk deliveries.
As the first online courier booking platform to offer a wide selection of courier services for rate comparison, EasyParcel aims to pave the path of digitalisation for businesses through their user-friendly platform with unique marketing tools paired with integration/API features while providing complete transparency.
“Back in 2014, our business model was unlike anything seen before and many courier companies were reluctant to join us. We had a hard time convincing traditional courier companies to shift their businesses into the digital space. The next challenge then, was to educate the market. As most of them were not as tech-savvy and we had to give plenty of courses and training to guide them through the system and process. Our processes were also constantly re-worked based on the feedback from them and the front-end users, to ensure a seamless and user-friendly experience for all,” Clarence recalled.
A Top-Up Model and Reward Point Programme for Users
To help ease the financial burden of businesses, especially MSMEs, EasyParcel uses a top-up model system to provide users the flexibility to engage in on-demand courier services, whenever required. In addition, for every top-up transaction made, users are able to earn “EasyReward” points with every dollar topped-up (excluding GST) equating to 1 Easy Reward Point. Accumulating the reward points will entitle users to redeem different rewards ranging from packing materials such as carton boxes, bubble envelopes and even electronics such as iPads, iMacs and a Nintendo Switch.
EasyParcel currently serves more than 1 million SME users from around Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia), particularly MSMEs and independent business owners. Delivering more than 50,000,000 parcels to date, the logistics and tech startup strives to continue providing cost-efficient tools for businesses while allowing users to receive door-to-door deliveries without having to go through the post office.
