Over the past decade, humanity has embarked on a technological journey and evolution, all powered by connectivity. Today most of us have a fair share of internet access that has revolutionised how we live, work, learn and play. Speed and reliability are crucial for connectivity and may become the deciding factor in any country’s upbringing and development.
Wi-Fi 6 Explained
Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax is the latest generation of wireless internet, featuring substantial upgrades in capacity, coverage, and performance over its predecessor, Wi-Fi 5. Wi-Fi 6 is designed to function in tandem with 5G, and it employs Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) to deliver lower latency and more efficient data transfer.
However, there are certain concerns about wireless connectivity. Even with Wi-Fi 6, two major issues usually arise when it comes to wireless communication. The RUCKUS Wireless Access Points from CommScope were designed exclusively to address these concerns.
Congested Network
Congestion on networks is especially common in public settings such as hospitals, schools, businesses, and hotels. It is a phenomenon caused by a huge number of users who are connected to the network at the same time. Consequently, the connection speed will be severely bottlenecked, like a congested highway.
In addition, an over-utilised device otherwise occurs when the router exhausts the network throughput, throttling the CPU performance to the point of packet loss, also resulting in network congestion. Think of it as a 3-lane highway merging into a 2-lane road.
Physical Obstruction
Wireless network signals are subject to obstructions with characteristics or materials that can reflect, refract, or absorb the signal. Buildings and surroundings with a lot of furniture, windows, metallic objects, or thick walls and ceilings make it difficult for the signal to reach the intended users. Not to mention that natural environments, such as parks or school common grounds, are typically surrounded by plants and foliage, hindering the wireless signal’s ability to travel.
The Solution
RUCKUS by CommScope is a series of wireless access points which cater to their users’ requirements. Whether it is high user density or challenging outdoor environments, RUCKUS Access Points will provide the users with secure reliable access and connectivity. There is a RUCKUS device for every situation imagined.
The RUCKUS’s ChannelFly feature addresses network congestion by assessing across all available channels, based on actual realisable capacity, before making any decisions to switch between accessible access points, hence allowing sufficient headroom for network throughput. RUCKUS BeamFlex, on the other hand, is another feature that directs transmit energy to the best path to the receiving device. Additionally, unlike fixed-position directional antennas, BeamFlex dynamically configures and reconfigures its antenna pattern to deliver concentrated coverage with directional performance within a given environment, hence enhancing signal gain. Physical obstructions, in other words, will no longer be an issue.
RUCKUS is Robust
The connectivity issues mentioned above are just a few of many. CommScope deserves credit for developing RUCKUS Access Points for both indoor and outdoor environments where the topography might be challenging for wireless network communications. CommScope’s ‘Now Meets Next’ perfectly describes the company’s evolution in connectivity. CommScope is a winner of the 2020 Tech Innovator Award. Learn more about RUCKUS by clicking here.
