MAMPU Launched 3rd Open Data Hackathon

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun successfully launched the Open Data Hackathon programme which was divided into three categories of participation, namely the public sector category for 48 hours, the industry and public and private universities category (48 hours) and high school students category (30 hours).  While another category  of 104 participants from 34 groups also began a 24-hour challenge to win a cash prize of RM12,500 for the 2017 Mobile App Hackathon open to civil servants only.

Participants who consist of total of 53 teams with 176 participants will be vying for a cash prize of RM60,500.

The 3rd year running hackathon by MAMPU is a government initiative to encourage the creation of creative and innovative data applications and products to improve government services, as well as generate income and improve the well-being of the people. The government had taken the initiative to share information or data available from government agencies with the people for free and is open to the public though not containing personal data or deemed as confidential.

Results for the hackathon will be announced on the 8th of October at a prize giving ceremony.
