At the Nokia Technology Day held in Kuala Lumpur, Nokia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting enterprises in Malaysia in their digital transformation journey and advancing the nation’s Industry 4.0 roadmap.

Since the introduction of its National IR 4.0 Policy last year and the recently launched Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (WEF-C4IR) earlier this year, Malaysia has made great progress in steering strategic socioeconomic transformation with the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies nationwide. Most recently, the country observed a key milestone of achieving 27 percent of 5G coverage nationwide, with the targeted 36% expected to reach by the end of 2022.

The event hosted by Datuk Mohd Rauf Nasir, Managing Director of Malaysia, Sri Lanka & Maldives at Nokia, and Preetha Nadarajah, Chief Technology Officer at Nokia Malaysia, saw the company provide an update on its presence and 5G leadership in Malaysia.

Leveraging on its position as a market leader in 5G and industrial-grade private wireless networks, network infrastructure and enterprise business, Nokia also highlighted how it is providing mission critical solutions for communication service providers (CSPs) and enterprises across key industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, and agriculture.

Through a series of demonstrations, Nokia also presented some of its latest innovations, products and technologies. Specially curated from the company’s participation at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2022, the demonstrations solidified Nokia’s commitment to supporting Malaysian enterprises’ digital transformation journey and helping Malaysia achieve its national Industry 4.0 agenda.

Some of the innovations presented at the event include:

Award-winning Liquid Cooling AirScale

As part of Nokia AirScale Base Station portfolio, Nokia has embedded Liquid Cooling technology to make radio networks more sustainable and cost-efficient, namely by reducing the energy required to cool a base station to lower base station-related CO2 emissions by up to 80%. Nokia 5G Innovative Liquid Cooling recently won the ‘Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology Award’ at the GTI Awards 2022.

5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA)

Nokia’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) complements customers’ mobile offering, bringing new revenues and opening the door to new value-added services for homes and businesses.  With FWA, customers can receive fibtr-like broadband wherever mobile spectrum is available.

Enterprise 5G Private Wireless

Nokia’s industrial grade private wireless powers Industry 4.0 digitalisation. Nokia’s broad range of private wireless end-to-end solutions offers organisations the required flexibility and ease of use to adapt to various industrial segment needs.

FP5 Router

As the new core of Nokia’s IP service routing platforms, FP5 will enable service providers to address today’s unrelenting requirements to efficiently scale network capacity, enable new higher speed IP services and provide unmatched protection against escalating network security threats.

“As a trusted partner for critical networks, we are committed to supporting our customers and partners here in Malaysia to create value and provide a foundation to accelerate the digitalisation of the country’s key industries,” said Nasir. “Private wireless has proven to be a critical enabler to accelerate Industry 4.0 and as Malaysia continues to implement its Industry 4.0 strategies, it is more critical than ever for enterprises to accelerate the adoption of these technologies and unlock new opportunities to boost Malaysia’s economy. We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with our partners here in Malaysia and deploying the best-in-class solutions needed to drive the nation’s digital transformation journey as well as transforming the lives of Malaysians.”
