PLDT Enterprise and Cisco plan to cooperate and bring to market the technology and managed services that will enable enterprise customers to deploy Private 5G successfully and achieve better business outcomes. The companies plan to accelerate edge connectivity through PLDT Enterprise’s Managed Private 5G solution so that their business partners will be able to seamlessly integrate Private 5G into their pre-existing LAN, WAN, and Cloud infrastructure. This enables enterprises to leverage their existing infrastructure for security, policy, and device management to take advantage of the benefits of 5G.

Together, the companies can rapidly enable critical Industry 4.0 capabilities such as push-to-talk, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), always connected PCs (for digital frontline workers), machine vision (e.g., predictive maintenance, PPE detection), and more.

PLDT Enterprise and Cisco to Support Digital Transformation

Cisco and PLDT Enterprise intend to collaborate on specific customer use cases to support businesses in their digital transformation. The companies plan to focus on empowering computer vision for precise product quality analysis, enhancing predictive analytics for optimizing manufacturing equipment functionality and maintenance schedules, and advancing the integration of autonomous vehicles for streamlined product movement on factory floors.

Leveraging PLDT’s Internet of Things (IoT) solution, these initiatives aim to significantly improve operational efficiency, drive innovation, reduce costs, and contribute to the overall success of businesses undergoing digital transformation.

“Together with PLDT Enterprise, we aim to help our customers accelerate digital transformation, with the power of 5G and Wi-Fi across IT and OT operations,” said Jonathan Davidson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Cisco Networking. “With Private 5G as-a-service, we are helping businesses to reduce the technical, financial, and operational risks associated with managing 5G networks, so they can focus on driving business agility and efficiency.”

“Our commitment is rooted in introducing cutting-edge capabilities and services, empowering our customers in their journey to digitally transform and modernise their businesses,” said Jojo Gendrano, Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Business Group at PLDT and Smart. “As the first and only Philippine telco to be recognized as Cisco’s Gold Service Provider, we are exceptionally positioned to deliver a secure, reliable, and future-proof Private 5G network. This aligns with our overarching mission to drive businesses towards a digitally transformed future through connectivity and innovation.”

For Cisco Private 5G, PLDT Enterprise will provide network infrastructure design, deployment, run operations, use case development, device sourcing, compatibility, and end-to-end testing.
