One of the country’s largest homegrown building materials wholesalers and distributors by revenue, Unitrade Industries Berhad, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Syarikat Logam Unitrade Sdn Bhd (SLUSB), has entered entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) and JJ-LAPP (M) Sdn Bhd (“JJ-LAPP”). This collaboration aims to explore the business opportunities under Huawei’s cutting-edge Digital Power-Smart Photovoltaic (PV) solutions in fostering sustainability practices across residential as well as commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors.
The Smart PV system seamlessly integrates digital technologies into solar power systems for optimised energy generation and enhanced efficiency, as well as in facilitating remote monitoring and management of solar power systems. This advancement in energy digitalisation paves the way for a more reliable and efficient energy ecosystem.
Simson Sim Xian Zhi, Executive Director at Unitrade, said: “Our collaboration with Huawei Malaysia and JJ-LAPP marks our continued focus on environmentally responsible business ventures. This partnership underscores Unitrade’s commitment to seizing innovative opportunities within green technology, thereby expanding the Group’s product portfolio to include PV modules. By continuously implementing practices for zero pollution and reducing reliance on traditional power sources, we strive to foster eco-friendly practices within both residential and C&I sectors.”
A Leading Collaboration for Next-Generation Solutions
Under the MoU, Huawei Malaysia will act as the technology advisor for the Smart PV systems, complemented by JJ-LAPP as the authorised value-added partner to enhance the reach and impact of the solutions within the targeted segments. Meanwhile, leveraging Unitrade’s expertise as a wholesaler and distributor, the Group will serve as the distribution partner in facilitating broader market access for the Smart PV systems.
“In line with Malaysia’s commitment to the energy transition agenda, we are cognisant of the importance of technological advancements in promoting green energy adoption. Building upon our technological expertise, we aim to facilitate wider adoption of renewable energy by enhancing supply security and efficiency through our Smart PV solutions. Together with JJ-LAPP and Unitrade, we look forward to driving the uptake of innovative green technologies, supporting a meaningful energy transition towards a better, greener tomorrow,” added Chong Chern Peng, Vice President at Huawei Malaysia Digital Power Business.
Chang Chee Keong, General Manager at JJ-LAPP, said, “Capitalising on the growing interest in RE adoption among the residential and C&I segments, our commitment extends to collaborative marketing initiatives in enhancing Huawei Digital Power’s Smart PV brand visibility in the renewable energy space. We are enthusiastic about the Smart PV solutions in providing reliable and efficient RE alternatives for homeowners and businesses, all while shaping a sustainable energy landscape in Malaysia.”
