E-commerce has grown exponentially over the past few years—and it is still growing as the world continues to go digital. Along with this growth in e-commerce are seemingly endless possibilities, from enhanced customer experiences to new, safer digital payment options and more.

Exploring and unlocking these possibilities is part of Huawei’s vision, and on 31st May, the global cloud company held the Huawei Cloud E-Commerce Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia to help one of the world’s emerging nations boost its already robust e-commerce sector.

The Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) and more than 100 e-commerce, payment, and logistics enterprises attended the summit, themed “Unlock New Growth in E-Commerce with Huawei Cloud.”

Exploring Opportunities in E-Commerce and the Importance of Innovation

During the summit, Huawei Cloud and its partners had in-depth discussions on topics such as the future development of e-commerce in Indonesia and new opportunities brought by cloud technologies. In addition, Huawei Cloud and its partners jointly released End-to-End (E2E) solutions and outlined best practices for e-commerce website construction, user acquisition, order placement during promotions and logistics and distribution.

Industry leaders, enterprise executives and technical experts also delivered insightful speeches during the summit.

Budi Primawan, Vice Chairman of idEA

Budi Primawan, Vice Chairman at idEA, talked about the development of e-commerce in Indonesia and noted the country’s massive market potential, huge population dividend and high growth rate. Primawan added that e-commerce enterprises need to leverage cloud digital technologies to improve e-commerce competitiveness from “people,” “goods,” and “channel,” and ultimately achieve higher growth.

Improving e-commerce competitiveness is at the core of Huawei Cloud’s e-commerce solutions, which James Tan, Vice President of Solution Sales, Huawei Cloud APAC, talked about in his speech.

“Huawei Cloud e-commerce solutions aim to help e-commerce customers unlock new growth,” Tan pointed out. “We helped IDOL GROUP gain 360°insight into consumer groups to improve customer reach efficiency, assisted VMALL in building an agile and elastic platform to achieve fantastic user experience during promotions, and helped CARRO develop innovative models to drive customer conversions.”

Indeed, many customers have accelerated their growth by using cloud-based digital technologies by Huawei Cloud. One of them is CARRO, which was able to develop innovative models powered by Huawei Cloud AI technologies.

“CARRO developed the innovative model ‘160 Point Inspection’ enabled by Huawei Cloud AI, which reduces the processing time to detect car quality by 80%,” said Bryan Tan, Chief Data Scientist at CARRO Group and CEO at CARRO Indonesia. “This enables more accurate, fully automated, faster, all-rounded and more professional car inspection.”

Muliadi Jeo, CTO of SIRCLO

Leading Indonesian e-commerce solution enabler SIRCLO is also benefitting from Huawei’s technical assistance. Specifically, Huawei Cloud’s cloud-native services have helped SIRCLO improve omnichannel website construction capabilities.

Muliadi Jeo, CTO at SIRCLO, said: “To enhance SIRCLO’s omnichannel commerce enablement capabilities, we collaborated with Huawei Cloud in exploring cutting-edge innovations, such as advanced search engines, highly precise virtual customer services and artificial intelligence.”

The panellists discussed e-commerce, identified key development trends in the industry and outlined how cloud technology can boost e-commerce even more moving forward.

Continuing Huawei Cloud’s Commitment

As a global technology enterprise, Huawei Cloud is committed to working with e-commerce partners around the world to build an e-commerce ecosystem that breaks down the barriers between each business process. To that end, Huawei Cloud’s global service teams are always ready to help e-commerce customers migrate their services to the cloud.

To further underscore this commitment, Huawei Cloud, through its virtual human, Sara, and joined by executives from Huawei Cloud, idEA and Lazada, released the Joint Innovation Camp project. The Joint Innovation Camp offers a platform to explore industry trends, exchange management experience and improve technical understanding.

Looking into the future, Huawei Cloud will increase R&D investment to maintain innovation leadership in the e-commerce industry. It will also work closely with Indonesian enterprises to unlock new growth in the e-commerce industry and promote the stable and healthy development of the industry in Indonesia.
