Okta Investigates Possible Data Breach

You had one job to do and you couldn’t even………..

If you don’t know Okta, it is famous for its Single Sign-On platform, one password for all of your accounts. It proclaims itself to be the world’s No1 identity platform. So it will be embarrassing that in this world of zero-trust, a laptop from one of its engineers got “hijacked” and then managed to give privileged access to their system for what seems like several days.

I have long thought that SSO is a single point of weakness and security best practice advocates against any single point of weakness. This breach brings that sharply into view, with a whole range of implications cascading once your SSO access is compromised. Not least that you could be frozen out of literally every online count you have!

Qlik: Data Literacy to be Most In-Demand Skill by 2030 as AI Transforms Global Workplaces

A catalogue of irony. When I boil down what this report has found, it comes to this.

Most employers believe digital literacy is the most important skill they need in the workplace.

Less than one-fifth of employees believe their employers are preparing them for a more digital and data-driven future. 35% of people that changed jobs did so because they didn’t believe they were getting the training and upskilling they needed.

Go Figure!

Serious point. Business Intelligence providers like Qlik are part of the key to becoming data literate and training on any BI product will help in the journey!

The Metaverse Is Set to Transform the World, and Companies Are Diving In

For me personally, the worst thing that happened to the “Metaverse” is Facebook. The renaming and pivoting were almost like it was stealing the term and it switched me off.

They may now be called Meta but Facebook is not the Metaverse and our comprehension of what the Metaverse is and will be should not be clouded by large companies trying to claim it as their own.

The Metaverse is a collection of technologies that allow any organisation to fuse physical and digital. It will enhance training, onboarding, communication and interaction. And our great journalist Martin Dale does an excellent breakdown, not only of Accentyres foray into the Metaverse but some key technology trends about the Metaverse that will be useful for anyone – I recommend you have a read!
