Zebra Technologies Corporation, a leading digital solution provider enabling businesses to intelligently connect data, assets, and people, has announced that Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN) has successfully introduced the Zebra Warehouse Mobility Solution at its distribution centre at Seremban to support its fast-growing e-commerce business.
The Malaysian e-commerce market is one of the fastest-growing economies in the Southeast Asian region, with a projected revenue of USD $10.19 billion in 2023. As the largest halal home-grown hypermarket retail chain in Malaysia with 68 branches nationwide, MYDIN is determined to deliver its services and better cater to this growing customer base—and choosing the Zebra Warehouse Mobility Solution is a step towards realising that goal.
“Previously, our e-commerce business could only support about 1,500 daily orders. Using Zebra’s warehouse mobility solutions, we now complete more than 10,000 orders daily,” said Malik Bin Murad Ali, Director of IT, HR, Digital and Loss Prevention & Security, at MYDIN. “We constantly look for ways to gain better operational productivity to improve our customer experience. This is why we are equipping our front-line staff with more advanced technology tools to drive better results.”
Zebra Warehouse Mobility Solution: The Right Choice
MYDIN selected the Zebra Warehouse Mobility Solution and Zebra’s lightweight, ergonomically-designed TC21 mobile computers, which offer essential computing capabilities to enable its frontline workers to improve task accuracy and on-the-job efficiency.
The devices are equipped with enterprise-class durability and removable batteries for dependable around-the-clock operations, and the power to run all the applications needed at work. They are powered by the user-friendly Android operating system which reduces onboarding time. Additionally, the TC21 is scalable to support MYDIN’s future business growth.
MYDIN worked closely with Zebra PartnerConnect independent software vendor (ISV) AC2 Group to successfully implement and deploy AC2’s WAVE Warehouse Management System—a cloud-native WMS. In response to MYDIN’s business challenges, AC2 Group collaborated with Zebra to develop a comprehensive solution aimed at achieving the desired business outcomes.
“According to Zebra’s latest Global Shopper Study, nearly 8 in 10 of the surveyed global and APAC shoppers favor a blend of online and in-store shopping,” said Kym Lim, Country Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, Zebra Technologies. “As consumers increasingly demand seamless omnichannel experiences, MYDIN and other retailers can provide these experiences by adopting the right technology to digitize and automate workflows.”
